US Cities with Highest Taxes: NYC at the Top of the List

An analysis of U.S. office assets with the highest property taxes reveals that New York City continues to dominate the list, with 82 out of the top 100 properties in the ranking, according to data from PropertyShark and CommercialEdge. In 2022, these NYC office properties generated approximately $2.2 billion in property tax revenue – accounting for 84% of all contributions by these 100 properties nationwide.

Chicago follows closely behind as a major contributor; 17 out of its 20 entries featured on this list contributed a total sum amounting to $344 million in property taxes for 2022 alone – making it second only after New York City’s contribution rate-wise across all regions listed hereunder . San Francisco and Washington D.C., however, managed only three entries each on this ranking system respectively .

The findings demonstrate how significantly office buildings contribute towards local and state economies while also highlighting varying tax burdens across different parts of America today .
