Home Depot Inc. is moving forward with its expansion plans in the Phoenix suburbs of Surprise and Buckeye. The home improvement retailer recently received a building permit from the city of Surprise for a new 109,651-square-foot warehouse store with an attached garden center. Additionally, Home Depot has submitted plans to the city of Buckeye for a new hardware store.
According to reports from the Phoenix Business Journal, Home Depot purchased approximately 18 acres at Cactus Road and Loop 303 in Surprise earlier this year for $8.4 million in cash as part of their proposed store location. The site will be developed next to Barclay Group’s upcoming Fry’s-anchored shopping center which is expected to begin construction this fall and open by mid-2025 under Robinson Construction Co.
In addition, Home Depot has also announced plans for a 108,000-square-foot store within the larger Buckeye Commons shopping center spanning over 410,000 square feet anchored by Costco with potential future tenants such as Dick’s Sporting Goods.
