Construction has officially begun on a new 135-unit apartment complex in downtown Somersworth, NH. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by state and local officials, as well as members of the community. BOD Holdings LLC, Tidemark, and PROCON’s design-build team joined forces for this project.
The development site was previously occupied by a vacant garage and an overflow parking area for an old General Electric plant. It will now be transformed into a mix of studio apartments and one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. This project aims to provide “missing middle” housing options for shipyard employees, nurses, and local business workers with easy access to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard via Route 236.
According to Joe Geoghegan, partner at Tidemark: “With the launch of these new apartments comes not only an expansion of housing choices in Somersworth but also a higher standard for urban living in the region.” The goal is to create a thriving community that offers modern amenities while maintaining a high quality of life for all residents.
