A Chinese construction materials company, OYH Construction Materials, is currently constructing a $100 million manufacturing plant in Prairie View. The project is located about 50 miles northwest of Houston and covers 46 acres across Business U.S. Highway 290 from Prairie View City Hall.
The focus of the local project will be on producing waterproof roofing materials. The complex at 44291 Old Houston Highway will consist of six buildings upon completion, with the first phase including two factories and a research and development center. Two additional manufacturing buildings are planned for the second phase.
OYH Construction Materials aims to finish the first phase by the end of 2025 and this location in Prairie View will mark their first manufacturing facility in the United States. They plan to hire approximately 100 positions for the first phase and an additional 250 for the second.
