Chevron Corporation has announced that it will be relocating its headquarters from California to Houston, Texas, following a trend set by other major oil companies such as Exxon. The move is expected to take place before the end of 2024 and will involve Chairman and CEO Mike Wirth and Vice Chairman Mark Nelson moving to Houston in order to work more closely with other senior leaders. While most corporate functions are expected to migrate over the next five years, positions supporting Chevron’s operations in California will remain in San Ramon. This relocation is not expected have an immediate impact on employees currently based in San Ramon. With approximately 7,000 employees already located in Houston and only about 2,000 remaining in San Ramon after the move takes place, Chevron remains committed to its operations on both coasts.
