n Kyle, four years ago, residents voted in favor of a bond issue to provide initial funding for an indoor/outdoor sports complex. Since then, both the town and Hays County have contributed an additional $24 million towards the project. The construction plans are nearing completion and Stantec Consulting is leading the feasibility study. A potential 90-acre site along FM 1626 near Plum Creek Meadows Drive has been identified as a suitable location for the sportsplex.
The outdoor portion of this project includes various amenities such as two miles of trails, four basketball courts with playgrounds nearby, five youth turf fields with accompanying volleyball courts and shuffle board areas, ten full-size turf fields for different sports activities including soccer or football games; eleven pickleball courts; seventeen bleachers; and thirty shade pavilions.
Meanwhile,the proposed indoor facility may feature an indoor track area,a community room available for events or gatherings,catering kitchen facilities,multi-purpose courts,and open workout spaces.The estimated cost of phase one development is approximately $65 million.Further funding may be requested from voters in future bond elections by the town to support this venture.
