According to a report by the Puget Sound Business Journal, Barnes & Noble is set to open a new store at Bellevue Square, two years after closing its previous downtown location. The popular retail bookstore will be taking over the space formerly occupied by Z Gallerie, which closed in 2019. This marks their return to Bellevue, as they had previously operated a store there before it closed in 2022. Additionally, Barnes & Noble has announced plans for another store opening this fall in Issaquah at 775 NW Gilman Blvd.
The New York City-based retailer has been expanding its physical presence and filling vacant spaces left behind by other retailers like Bed Bath & Beyond. Under the leadership of CEO James Daunt, who aims to open 50 new stores by 2024, Barnes & Noble has already opened 23 locations this year alone.
