"Exciting Plans for E. Austin Heritage District Revealed"

Two mixed-use developments, featuring affordable housing and cultural spaces, are set to be built on vacant city-owned lots in East Austin’s Cultural Heritage District. Blocks 16 and 18 on East 11th Street will undergo a transformation with these new proposals.

After careful consideration, city officials have chosen the Pleasant Hill Collaborative to lead the project. The group is made up of Servitas, a national student housing developer, as well as local builders Guadalupe Neighborhood Development Corp. and Topo.

The proposed redevelopment of Blocks 16 and 18 by the collaborative has an estimated cost of $112 million for nearly 300,000 square feet of space. It includes neighborhood priorities such as:

-138 residences ranging from studio apartments to three-bedroom townhomes in Block
16.
-The majority of units will be reserved for tenants earning less than or equal to
50% of the local median income.
