Urban Innovations has recently completed a successful renovation and expansion project at the iconic Karl Vogt Building located at 6811 Hickory Street in downtown Tinley Park. This four-story, 7,835-square-foot building was originally constructed in 1872 and has now been transformed into The Vogt House by Banging Gavel Brews.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988, this landmark building is a significant part of Tinley Park’s history. The extensive project involved both interior and exterior renovations, including structural work throughout each floor and lowering the basement slab to accommodate the new brewery. Built by German immigrant Karl Vogt, this is also considered as the oldest standing structure in Tinley Park.
According to Ramiro Trevino, vice president of construction for Urban Innovations: “We worked closely with our team of designers, engineers,and state entities to deliver modern yet cost-effective solutions that would meet all requirements set forth by our client.” Leading architects Katherine Pohl and Joakim Backstrom from Altus Works were responsible for designing this impressive transformation while Jason Zeman served as project manager alongside construction superintendent Albert Bauer.
The completion of these renovations marks an exciting milestone for The Vogt House taproom without mentioning any specific brand names or companies involved. This historic gem now stands proudly as one more reason why visitors should explore downtown Tinley Park’s vibrant culture.
