Sugar Land Imperial Char House Site to be Developed into $1B Mixed-Use Project

Sugar Land’s iconic Imperial Sugar Char House site is set to become the focal point of a $1 billion mixed-use project. The town has approved the proposal from Puma Development, which includes 660 apartments and homes, 150,000 square feet of retail space and 300,000 square feet of office space at buildout. In addition to this agreement comes a $5 million reimbursement from the city for renovations on the nearly 100-year-old vacant building.

The repurposing will add a mix of retailers and restaurants to its first floor with office spaces and coworking spaces above it. This massive investment is expected to take seven to ten years before completion as part of an effort by Sugar Land officials in preserving its history while also modernizing their economy through new developments such as this one.
