Federal Realty Investment Trust has announced plans to revamp the Pan Am Shopping Center in Fairfax, Virginia. The 228,000-square-foot retail destination will undergo a modernization project beginning in late June and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The renovation will include updates such as a new color scheme, upgraded façade, improved canopy ceiling and lighting fixtures, two trellis features with new furniture for outdoor seating areas, enhanced landscaping elements and updated signage. Originally built in 1979 and acquired by Federal Realty in 1993 at the intersection of Lee Highway and Nutley Street,the center is anchored by Safeway,Microcenter,and Michaels. It also boasts various dining options like Glory Days Grill,L’Image Beauty,and Starbucks along with retail establishments including CVS Pharmacy.
According to Deirdre Johnson,senior vice president of Asset Management for Federal Realty,”Pan Am Shopping Center has been an integral part of the Fairfax community for many years.” She further added that “the renovation aims to elevate customer experience through additions like outdoor seating,mural art,bike racks,and ambient lighting.”
