Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, a London-based law firm, has recently secured a lease for approximately 18,000 square feet at One Bush St. in San Francisco. This marks the firm’s first office in the city and it will occupy the entire 17th floor of Tishman Speyer’s building.
The move is part of Freshfields’ expansion into the Bay Area market, with its previous Silicon Valley office opening in Redwood City earlier this year. The firm is well-known for its expertise in M&A and antitrust work.
According to sources, Freshfields may have been attracted to San Francisco due to its growing reputation as the world’s artificial intelligence capital. As industries adapt to serve AI technology, such as legal services sector which could experience significant growth as well.
It remains unclear if Freshfields utilized brokers during their leasing process at One Bush St., which offers a total of 297,000 square feet and is managed by Tishman Speyer’s Allen Palmer and Patrick Devinger.
