"Michigan Central Station Renovation: Ford to Invest $950M in Reopening"

Michigan’s historic Central Station is set to reopen after a six-year, $950 million project by Ford Motor Company. The former train depot will now serve as an advanced technology center, bringing together Ford employees, external partners, entrepreneurs and students to collaborate on new products and services. This preservation effort has involved over 1.7 million hours of work to update the station with modern technology and infrastructure.

According to Bill Ford, executive chair of the company: “This Station was our Ellis Island – a place where dreamers in search of new jobs and opportunities first arrived in Detroit.” He goes on to credit the efforts of forward-thinking individuals from various fields who have worked alongside more than 3,000 skilled tradespeople during this ambitious renovation.

The reopening marks an exciting milestone for Michigan Central as it becomes a hub for innovation in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood. With its rich history and renewed purpose as an engine for progress, Michigan Central is poised to make significant contributions towards shaping the future.
