Empire Square Group has announced plans to redevelop Austin’s Grant Plaza, with the goal of constructing 258 multifamily units, as well as retail and restaurant spaces. The project, known as the Grant Building, will encompass 260,000 square feet on a 1.8-acre site at 611 E. Sixth St., and is set to replace three aging commercial buildings.
The proposed building will stand at a height of 78 feet and feature a central courtyard for residents to enjoy. In addition to residential units above, the ground floor will also house retail spaces spanning from Red River Street on the west side to Sabine Street on the east side. There are also potential plans for coworking space and a gym on this level.
Leading architecture firms Steinberg Hart and Belshaw Mulholland Architects have been selected for this project along with Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc., who will serve as civil engineer and land surveyor.
This redevelopment plan aims not only improve upon an outdated area but also bring new life into Austin’s thriving community without compromising its unique character.
