Jags Stadium Plans: Moving Forward

The Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL) have received preliminary approval for their proposal to revamp EverBank Stadium in a $1.4 billion agreement with city officials. Both parties will contribute $625 million towards the total cost of $1.25 billion, while the City of Jacksonville will also provide an additional $150 million to prepare for construction in 2026 without implementing new taxes. The terms include a 30-year lease, securing the team’s presence in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars aim to commence construction after their 2025 season and anticipate playing at reduced capacity during its first year, pending approval from Jacksonville’s city council at their late June meeting. If approved by majority vote, NFL owners will then review and decide on final authorization for the project come October.

This development marks significant progress towards Jags’ stadium renovation plans.
