Anaheim’s Planning Commission has approved zoning and planning changes for DisneylandForward, a long-term project aimed at expanding Disney’s existing theme parks. The proposal is now awaiting approval from the Anaheim City Council on April 16.
Introduced in 2021, the proposal does not request any additional acreage or development of new hotel rooms. Instead, it redistributes already approved development amounts within Disney’s current operating land.
The plan includes allowing for theme park attractions to be built alongside hotels on the west side of Disneyland Drive and near new shopping, dining, and entertainment options at Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard (currently known as Toy Story Parking Area). Additionally, there are plans for expanded parking east of the theme parks with potential foot bridges over Harbor Boulevard and Disneyland Drive.
Disney has released a rendering showcasing their vision for this expansion.
