"Johnson and UChicago Expand South Side Healthcare Facilities"

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has announced a new partnership with City Colleges of Chicago, the University of Chicago, and the University of Chicago Medical Center to enhance healthcare education and employment opportunities on the city’s South Side. The initiative includes plans for two state-of-the-art facilities in Washington Park: UChicago Medicine Clinical Labs and Malcolm X College Learning Center.

Construction is set to begin in 2025 on these cutting-edge healthcare facilities, which are expected to create approximately 600 jobs for local residents. This project also aims to address a significant shortage of clinical lab technicians in the area.

Accordingly, this expansion will strengthen an already successful relationship between City Colleges, the University of Chicago, and UChicago Medicine that has been placing students into lucrative careers. Mayor Johnson praised this collaboration as an investment in economic growth for South Side communities.
