Hospitality Firm Closes on Iconic SA Event Hall "Iconic SA Event Hall Acquired by Hospitality Firm"

The Villita Assembly Building, a historic event venue in San Antonio, has been sold for the second time this year. Constructed in 1959 and located on the riverfront, it predates the city’s 1968 World’s Fair.

Recently acquired by MLSA from CPS Energy, this iconic hall has seen a change of ownership after being purchased by local developer GrayStreet Partners just five months ago for $5.3 million. Despite initial plans to renovate and operate the building as an event space, it was put back on the market shortly after.

MLSA successfully closed on their purchase of the property with funding from 48 investors totaling over $10 million. As a hotel development firm, they have announced intentions to introduce new food and beverage options within the venue.

This latest transaction marks another chapter in ongoing efforts to revitalize and preserve one of San Antonio’s beloved landmarks – now under new ownership once again.
