A new affordable housing option is in the works for Atlanta’s city workers. According to the Atlanta Business Journal, a pair of developers with ties to local churches are teaming up to build 200 workforce apartments across from City Hall.
The project, called Trinity Flats and expected to be 10 stories tall, is being led by Radiant Development Partners and Capitol Hill Neighborhood Development Corp. Construction is slated to begin before the end of this year.
Thanks in part to low-income housing tax credits provided by Georgia’s Department of Community Affairs (estimated at $50 million), as well as other funding sources such as tax-exempt loans and bonds, the total cost for development is projected at around $72 million. The city’s primary partner for ending homelessness, Partners for Home, has also committed support.
In addition to residential units targeted towards households earning between 50% and 80% AMI (area median income), plans include approximately 7,500 square feet of retail space along Central Avenue.
This latest development will provide much-needed affordable options for those working within Atlanta’s bustling urban center.
