The upcoming Peoria Amkor semiconductor packaging and testing plant will span 500,000 square feet of clean room space and bring about 2,000 job opportunities to the thriving area. According to the Phoenix Business Journal, this facility is projected to become the largest outsourced packaging plant in the United States. Amkor will be responsible for packaging and testing chips for industry leader Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., whose massive factory is currently being constructed nearby.
Recently approved by City Council, a development agreement has been established between Amkor and Vistancia community’s master developer in Peoria regarding public infrastructure costs. This also sets a timeline for construction commencement and employment recruitment.
