It has been over two years since Houston welcomed a new major office tower, with the last one being the 47-story Texas Tower. Skanska USA recently completed construction on their latest project, a 28-story office tower located next to Discovery Green in downtown Houston. The design was created by renowned architect Michael Hsu.
The newly opened building, named “1550 on the Green,” offers 375,000 square feet of modern office space and an additional 7,000 square feet of retail space on its ground floor.
One unique feature of this development is its proximity to Discovery Green park. In order to take advantage of this prime location and provide workers with stunning views while exercising, the fitness center is situated on the second floor overlooking the park’s canopy level trees.
The influence of Discovery Green can also be seen in other areas within “1550 on the Green.” The building’s amenity center spans over 9,600 square feet across its topmost floor (the 28th), complete with a private terrace for tenants’ use as well as a lounge area featuring a bar and conference room that can accommodate up to150 people.
Skanska has already secured one tenant for this impressive new development – law firm Norton Rose Fulbright signed their lease three years ago in anticipation for this grand opening.
This exciting addition to Houston’s skyline marks another milestone achievement for Skanska USA and further solidifies their reputation as leaders in commercial real estate development.
