BlackStar Orbital Technologies Corporation has announced the establishment of a new engineering and manufacturing facility in Sierra Vista. The $7.1 million investment will cover 45,000 square feet, with 25,000 dedicated to hangar space for the BlackStar SpaceDrone.
The state-of-the-art facility will be located at Sierra Vista Municipal Airport and is set to become operational by 2026. It is expected to play a pivotal role in developing and producing the innovative BlackStar Spacecraft – a hybrid between a satellite and spaceplane.
Designed for various missions such as Earth observation, environmental monitoring, advanced communication solutions for both commercial and defense purposes, as well as supporting scientific research on climate study and ocean floor mapping; this expansion is projected to bring over 50 new jobs in aerospace and defense industries to Sierra Vista – making it an integral part of the city’s economic growth.
