Construction has officially commenced on the landside portion of the $600-million Commercial Core revitalization project at Dana Point Harbor. On February 7, a groundbreaking ceremony marked this significant milestone in the multiyear endeavor.
Led by Burnham Ward Properties (BWP), this five-phase project will encompass 120,000 square feet and focus on enhancing Dana Point Harbor’s dining and retail offerings while also creating public spaces for year-round education, activities, and entertainment.
Phases 1 and 2 are expected to be completed within one year. Following their completion, construction will begin on Phase 3 which includes development along the waterfront. The final phases will involve redeveloping buildings within The Wharf area.
According to Bryon Ward, president and partner of BWP: “This groundbreaking marks a momentous step forward in revitalizing Dana Point Harbor both historically and culturally. It has been an immense effort to reach this point for our landside revitalization.”
