XPO Inc., a transportation company based in Connecticut, is proposing a new truck freight development spanning 180,000 square feet on approximately 45 acres of undeveloped land in Shawnee, Kansas. The potential location is situated near major facilities such as an Amazon warehouse and industrial parks like Bonner Springs and Heartland Logistics Park. To facilitate this project, XPO has requested the city to rezone the agricultural plot into a planned industrial zoning district.
The proposed construction includes a 152,236-square-foot truck terminal and a maintenance building measuring at 31,685 square feet. According to reports from the Kansas City Business Journal , XPO will collaborate with Miller Stauch Construction Co., Davidson Architecture + Engineering based in Overland Park as well as Olsson and Verdigris Studio Midwest for this venture.
Apart from this upcoming development in Shawnee, XPO has also announced its acquisition of two locations previously operated by Yellow Corporation which had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last August. This deal involves purchasing 26 service centers along with assuming existing leases.
