The University of California, Irvine has made a significant investment in the future of healthcare in Orange County and beyond. The university’s clinical enterprise, UCI Health, will be acquiring Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s Pacific Coast Network for $975 million. This move solidifies UCI Health as a leading academic health system and furthers their mission to improve access to top-quality healthcare and drive medical advancements.
Chancellor Howard Gillman expressed excitement about this development, stating that it aligns with the University of California’s dedication to bettering communities through innovative solutions. The acquisition will bring four hospitals – located in Lakewood, Los Alamitos, Fountain Valley and Placentia – into the UCI Health system along with associated outpatient locations. These additions complement UCI Medical Center in Orange and an expanding network of multispecialty care centers.
Pending regulatory approvals and closing conditions being met as expected, this strategic acquisition marks another milestone for UC Irvine’s commitment to advancing healthcare solutions while bridging gaps in regional care.
