Amtrak Completes New Baltimore Platform

Amtrak Completes New Baltimore Platform

Amtrak has recently opened a new boarding platform at Baltimore Penn Station as part of its $150 million redevelopment project for the station. This addition aims to improve rail congestion and decrease delays on the Northeast Corridor, with plans to begin serving trains in spring. The project also includes two high-level platforms to accommodate an expansion of high-speed train service.

According to Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott, this new platform (along with future renovations) will revitalize the historic train station and provide necessary upgrades for convenience, safety, and overall enjoyment of travelers passing through.

Baltimore Penn Station is one of Amtrak’s busiest stations, seeing over three million passengers annually from both Amtrak and MARC services. In fact, ridership in Baltimore has increased by 29% within the past year alone – surpassing national growth rates by 5%.
