A new Residence Inn in San Antonio, with an estimated cost of $58 million, is set to begin construction pending approval from the Historic Design Review Commission (HDRC). The developers, Merritt Development Group and Peachtree Group from Georgia, plan to start work on the 171-room Marriott-branded hotel in the third quarter of 2024. The anticipated opening date for this project is 2026.
The joint venture between Merritt Development Group and Peachtree Group will result in a 124,000-square-foot property that includes amenities such as a fitness center and ground-floor dining. Additionally, there will be meeting space totaling at least 775 square feet.
Peachtree group has acquired ownership of the parcel where construction will take place by October of next year. BGKT Architects based out of Memphis have been selected to design this ten-story building. At an upcoming HDRC meeting plans for this development are expected to be voted on.
