EAH Housing Launches Second Phase of Modesto Affordable Housing Development

EAH Housing, a nonprofit developer and manager, recently celebrated the grand opening of Archway Commons II in Modesto with Mayor Sue Zwahlen and State Treasurer Fiona Ma. This affordable housing community is the second phase of Archway Commons, providing 74 units for low-income families.

Located at 1101 Carver Rd., this development was built on former industrial grounds and features nine two-story buildings. It includes one-bedroom apartments as well as two- and three-bedroom options for residents earning between 30% to 60% of the area median income. With an additional 74 units added in this phase, there are now a total of 150 residences available.

According to Gustavo Velasquez, director of the California Department of Housing & Community Development: “In light of California’s housing shortage across all income levels, developments like Archway Commons have a significant impact on our state.” He also emphasized how important it is to address affordable housing needs in smaller communities like Modesto.

This project showcases how strategic planning can make a positive difference in bridging the gap for affordable housing statewide.
