Forsyth County Board of Commissioners has approved a plan by Krause Sports and Entertainment to develop an entertainment hub in north Georgia, with the potential for landing an NHL team. The proposed $2 billion-plus project, known as The Gathering at South Forsyth, will feature an 80-acre mixed-use development including a state-of-the-art arena capable of hosting sports events, major concerts and community gatherings.
The plans for The Gathering at South Forsyth include a 700,000-square-foot arena that will serve as the centerpiece of the development. This investment is contingent upon securing an NHL expansion team. Along with the arena, there will be 1,800 multifamily units and 150 single-family units available for residents to call home. Additionally, there will be over 1.6 million square feet of office and retail space along with hotels within this vibrant complex.
In addition to these amenities geared towards adults, the developer has also committed to building a community ice center complete with facilities suitable for hockey games and skating activities. This exciting project comes after Atlanta lost two previous NHL teams since1980.The new complex promises not only top-notch entertainment but also economic growth opportunitiesfor all involved parties in Forsyth County.
