The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) has recently acquired Jean Darsie Place, a 58-unit affordable multifamily housing community located at 5228 15th Ave NE in Seattle’s University District. The purchase was made for $17.1 million from Isola Homes using funds from Washington State’s Rights-of-Way Encampment Resolution Program, administered by the Department of Commerce. Fairbank Construction Company served as the building contractor and Skidmore Jannette Architecture designed the property.
Named after late advocate for homeless individuals and environmental issues in Seattle, Jean Darsie Place will offer permanent supportive housing with on-site staffing and food support services. This marks LIHI’s seventh newly constructed building purchased to provide housing for formerly homeless individuals and low-wage workers within the market. LIHI Executive Director Sharon Lee expressed gratitude towards Isola Homes for their central U District location selection and delivery of an attractive building design.
