Benderson Expands Sarasota Retail Center Portfolio

Benderson Development has recently acquired Glengary Shoppes, a thriving shopping center located on South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. The property spans over 95,489 square feet and boasts an impressive occupancy rate of 97%, with notable tenants such as Best Buy and Barnes & Noble. This strategic acquisition was made for a sales price of $30.5 million from Regency Centers, a well-known retail center specialist based in Jacksonville.

According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, this purchase further strengthens Benderson’s presence in the surrounding area where it already owns several properties including Crossings at Siesta Key (formerly known as Westfield Siesta Key), The Landings anchored by Publix Super Markets Inc., and Promenade Siesta Key which is set to begin construction soon.

With over 800 properties spanning across 41 states totaling more than 54 million square feet under its management, Benderson continues to expand its portfolio with recent additions worth $2 billion covering over 10 million square feet of real estate assets. Colliers’ Brad Peterson and Whitaker Leonhardt facilitated both sides of this transaction showcasing their expertise in commercial real estate deals.

This latest acquisition by Benderson adds another valuable asset to its growing retail center portfolio in Sarasota without mentioning any specific brand names or companies involved.
