"Transforming Office Space Design: The Impact of Hybrid Work"

The rise of hybrid work is prompting businesses to reduce their office footprint and revamp their workspace for optimal employee productivity, according to a recent report from CBRE. The study, which surveyed 66 global companies, revealed that 90% now offer a hybrid work model for employees.

As part of this shift towards flexible work arrangements, respondents have increased the amount of collaborative space in their offices from 14% in 2021 to 20% in 2023. In contrast, private individual workspace has decreased from occupying over half (56%) of the office square footage in 2021 to just under half (45%) by next year.

CBRE’s global leader of occupancy management Susan Wasmund stated that office demand is no longer solely determined by company size but rather influenced by workplace policies and employee behavior. This highlights the importance for corporate real estate leaders to closely monitor attendance patterns and utilization rates when making decisions about office space design.
