"Broward County Acquires Healthcare Facility"

Broward County has recently acquired a healthcare facility located at 2000 W. Commercial Blvd for $18.5 million, with plans to redevelop it into a state-of-the-art Forensic Science Center. This decision came after considering feedback from local residents, leading officials to change their initial choice of location in Golden Heights.

According to the Jacksonville Business Journal, Broward County has allocated $262 million towards the redevelopment project and aims to transform the 133,295-square-foot property into a modernized 177,000-square-foot facility by 2023.

The seller of this medical office building was Allied Health Education and the transaction amounted to $139 per square foot. The property was previously sold for $15.7 million in 2021 and was originally built on an expansive 8.7-acre site back in1971.

This acquisition marks an exciting development for Broward County as they continue their efforts towards enhancing public services through strategic investments such as this one.
