The San Antonio City Council has allocated $27 million for two housing projects designed to provide permanent supportive housing to those who are chronically homeless. The projects will include on-site supportive services, ranging from RV spaces, tiny homes and standard apartment units with a total of 288 permanent supportive housing units added to the affordable market. Additionally, 13 rapid rehousing units have been designated in order to reduce the amount of time families experience homelessness and quickly transition them into permanent affordable homes.
Towne Twin Village is set up for chronically homeless older adults aged 50 years or more with 83 tiny homes and RV’s ready this month as part of its first phase costing $12 million. The Commons at Acequia Trails is estimated at $15 million providing 200 multi-family efficiency 1-bedroom permanent supportive houses . The goal is an ambitious one – decreasing unsheltered homelessness by 20%.
