"Massive NM Power Project Secures $11B Financing"

Pattern Energy Group LP (Pattern Energy) has recently announced the successful closure of an $11 billion non-recourse financing for its SunZia Transmission and SunZia Wind project. This groundbreaking clean energy infrastructure project, which is set to be the largest in U.S. history, has already begun full construction.

With a capacity to transport 3,000 MW of electricity across Western states, SunZia Transmission is a 550-mile ± 525 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line connecting central New Mexico and south-central Arizona. It will deliver power generated by Pattern Energy’s massive 3,515 MW wind facility – also known as the largest wind project in the Western Hemisphere – located across Torrance, Lincoln and San Miguel Counties in New Mexico.

The impressive scale of this undertaking can be compared to that of Hoover Dam. However, with its $8.8 billion construction and term facilities secured by over half a dozen banks and an additional $2.25 billion provided by Banco Santander-led consortium through tax equity funding; it surpasses even that iconic landmark.

During construction alone more than two thousand workers will be employed on-site at both projects combined – providing significant economic benefits for local communities while promoting sustainable energy practices nationwide.

This major milestone marks yet another success story for Pattern Energy as they continue their mission towards creating innovative solutions for renewable energy production without compromising on quality or efficiency standards.
