"Discover St. John Properties' Redevelopment Plan for Harrisburg Mall in Baltimore"

St. John Properties, a Baltimore-based company, has announced plans to redevelop Harrisburg Mall in Dauphin County, PA into Swatara Exchange – a dynamic mixed-use business community. The project is set to be completed by 2025 and will feature single-story offices, flexible ‘flex/R&D’ spaces, and retail areas.

The redevelopment will include single-story multi-use/flex commercial space as well as inline retail and new retail pad sites. Bass Pro Shops and Applebee’s will remain operational within the development. This revitalization effort aims to create 1,000 jobs and generate $1 million in annual tax revenue through the construction of 12 new buildings spanning over 550,000 square feet.

According to Lawrence Maykrantz – president & CEO of St. John Properties – this plan takes into account industry trends in the retail sector along with changing consumer shopping habits while also considering local real estate conditions and economic factors specific to Harrisburg.

Demolition is scheduled for March 2024 followed by grading work with construction expected until late-2026.
