Nashville Developer Purchases Historic Downtown Building

A historic office building with strong structural integrity has been acquired for potential conversion into apartments. The Morris Memorial building, located in downtown Nashville, was recently purchased by the Samaroo Group for $6 million.

The 0.38-acre property holds significant historical significance as it was once home to the city’s largest slave-trading business and later commissioned by the National Baptist Convention in 1922.

Samaroo Properties, known for their successful developments such as The Brownstones and The Lofts, have expanded their portfolio with this latest acquisition. Other projects include residential condos, rental communities, student apartments and a shopping/dining destination called The Commons.

In recent years, many developers have taken an interest in repurposing old brick mills and stone warehouses into various commercial or residential options within Nashville’s thriving real estate market.
