A team of five graduate students from UCLA emerged victorious at the annual NAIOP SoCal USC vs. UCLA Real Estate Challenge, earning the silver shovel award. Led by Max Capogrosso, Briana Rayhaun, Rob Schrader, Sam Sherman and John Sullivan, the team presented their winning proposal for “Legacy Ranch,” a redevelopment project for Southern California’s historic Marine Corps Air Station Tustin South Hangar.
The highly anticipated event took place on November 16 at USC’s Town and Gown venue where teams from both universities competed to determine the most suitable use for a unique parcel of land in Southern California. The Ziman Center of Real Estate at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business and Lusk Center at USC’s Marshall School of Business and Price School of Public Policy were represented by their respective five-member graduate student teams.
UCLA’s Legacy Ranch proposal stood out with its mixed-use development plan that includes an architectural park as its cultural centerpiece. The surrounding housing options cater to diverse age groups and income brackets in order to further enhance Tustin’s inclusivity.
