The Port of Galveston has recently announced the approval of a contract for the construction of a fourth cruise terminal. The project, valued at $5.3 million, will be carried out by Bermello Ajamil & Partners and includes designing the terminal building, parking garage, marine structure improvements and passenger boarding bridge. Additionally, BA will oversee civil improvements such as surface parking areas, access roads and utilities.
According to reports from Houston Business Journal , financing for the project is expected to come from port cash reserves and revenue bonds once final budget plans are in place. Early estimates suggest that the total cost for this expansion will reach approximately $140 million. This development is projected to bring 925 new jobs to boost local economy.
The new cruise terminal is set to open at Pier 16 by 2025.
