The University of California San Diego (UCSD) has commenced construction on Triton Center, a $428-million development located at the entrance of the university. McCarthy Building Companies is overseeing the 400,000-square-foot project based on designs by LMN Architects.
This expansive project comprises four distinct buildings that will accommodate various facilities such as UCSD’s Welcome and Alumni Center, a versatile venue with capacity for 500 guests and an art gallery; spaces for Global Initiatives programs including offices and gathering areas; a clinic offering services for Student Health, Mental Health and Well-Being; resources for students’ academic needs; retail shops and dining options; as well as a parking structure.
According to UCSD Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla, “Triton Center at UC San Diego marks one of our most significant undertakings in the history of our institution.” He further states that this development addresses their current lack of defined central space where essential academic support services are currently scattered throughout campus. As part of their long-term growth plan, this project holds great significance to them.
This groundbreaking event signifies another milestone in UCSD’s continuous efforts towards enhancing its campus infrastructure while providing top-notch amenities to its community members.
