and Transportation Mayor Johnson Appoints Ciere Boatright as Head of Planning, Development, and Transportation Department

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has selected Ciere Boatright as the new Director of the Department of Planning and Development. With a background in community development, Boatright brings a wealth of experience to her role, particularly in bringing investments to underserved areas.

Boatright’s strong ties to Chicago’s South Side make her an ideal candidate for this position. She previously worked at Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives, where she successfully led projects in Pullman and other neighborhoods on the South Side.

Prior to joining Johnson’s administration, Boatright served as Vice President of Real Estate and Community Development at CRG , a prominent development firm based in Chicago. In her new role as Director, she will oversee all aspects of planning and development while prioritizing equitable economic growth and neighborhood engagement.

Pending City Council approval on November 20th, Boatright is expected to officially assume her duties soon after. According to Mayor Johnson: “Ciere Boatright is an incredibly talented executive with a proven track record for managing both public and private developments throughout our city.”
