$65 Million Cold Storage Facility Potentially Coming to Lockhart

One of the nation’s top developers is spearheading a project to construct a $65 million cold storage facility in Lockhart. A business affiliated with Related Cos., known for their notable developments such as Hudson Yards and Grand LA, is seeking approval from the town for an incentive package to move forward with this 310,000-square-foot facility.

The company plans to open the cold storage facility by early 2025 and create job opportunities for at least 100 individuals at its location on a sprawling 53-acre site along Farm to Market Road 2001, north of State Highway 130. According to reports from Austin Business Journal, there are also plans in place for future expansion including an additional space of up to147,000 square feet and potential development of over877,900 square feetof industrial space on the campus.

RealCold will be responsible for owning and operating this state-of-the-art facility which caters primarilyto grocery stores that require delivery servicesand restocking within their premises.Furthermore,the company also serves food producers who need transportation services as well as direct-to-consumer businesses.

This major development has been making waves in Lockhart’s commercial real estate market,and it could potentially bring significant economic growthtothe area.
