Chicago State University and the City of Chicago have joined forces to unveil their plans for a 95th Street Corridor Development at the recent “Re-envisioning 95th Street” event. The partnership aims to create a university village in Roseland, with an initial report funded by the Chicago Community Trust focusing on revitalizing the stretch of 95th Street from Martin Luther King Drive to Cottage Grove Avenue.
The collaboration between these two entities will bring about significant changes in South Side, including mixed-use buildings that will feature both academic and commercial spaces spanning over 45,000 square feet. Additionally, there are plans for constructing student and family housing units totaling up to 240.
While this ambitious project is estimated to cost $250 million, no funds have been secured as yet. However, once completed it would add value alongside other planned developments such as the $3.6 billion extension of CTA Red Line and extensive renovations scheduled for the nearby Metra station on 95th street.
This redevelopment plan holds great potential for transforming this neighborhood into a thriving hub while also boosting economic growth in Roseland community without any mention of specific brands or organizations involved.
