The south side of San Antonio has been lacking in medical care options, but that is about to change. Construction work has begun on a 68-acre site at Zarzamora Street and Jaguar Lane for the new Palo Alto Hospital, which will be operated by University Health. This project, estimated at $475 million, aims to address the lack of healthcare services in this historically underserved area and accommodate its expected growth.
According to reports from the San Antonio Business Journal, Palo Alto Hospital will offer comprehensive services including an adult and pediatric emergency room, labor and delivery suites, as well as a neonatal intensive care unit. It will also be connected to a newly built medical office building housing family medicine practices and various specialists.
University Health plans on breaking ground next year for another hospital with similar costs in Selma.
