**$800M North Tower Project on Seattle’s First Hill Reaches Milestone**
Providence Swedish’s North Tower project has entered a new phase of construction for its 750,000-square-foot facility, marking a significant milestone. The North Tower is now the region’s largest new steel structure since the Seattle Convention Center expansion.
The $800 million North Tower is part of the Providence Swedish First Hill Campus expansion—the largest capital undertaking in the organization’s 115-year history. Designed by Perkins&Will and built by Mortenson, the 12-story, 260-foot-tall medical tower will include:
– 72 acuity-adaptable ICU beds
– 24 advanced operating suites
– A 31-room emergency department
Apex Steel participated in a recent ceremony celebrating the project reaching a pivotal stage of completion. Mark Baughman, Project Director at Mortenson, commented on the milestone, stating, “This final beam provides our team the opportunity to acknowledge the amazing work accomplished to date on the project, and particularly the success of the hard-working Apex crews that have safely and successfully erected this steel structure, as part of our commitment to our customer.”
The North Tower represents a transformative step for healthcare infrastructure in the Seattle region and reflects the ongoing commitment of Providence Swedish to expand and modernize medical care offerings in the Pacific Northwest.
