$72M Auto-Parts Maker to Create 350 Jobs in New Mexico Border Region

Taiwan-based Hota Manufacturing, a manufacturer of automotive gears for North American and European clients including Tesla, has chosen the Santa Teresa Borderplex in New Mexico as the site for their new factory. The company plans to invest $72 million with construction expected to begin in 2024 and future expansions possible over the coming decade. This will create 350 jobs at its 30-acre parcel located within Westpark Industrial Park.

Hota is one of Taiwan’s largest automotive gear transmission component companies with an annual production of nearly 20 million transmission gears according to its website. The Santa Teresa Port of Entry (STPOE) has seen tremendous growth recently by doubling commercial vehicle processing per hour and hitting a record high 160,000 trucks processed in 2022 alone – making it an ideal location for this new venture due to its proximity just 15 miles west from El Paso, Texas.
