**Hunts Point Produce Market to Undergo $635 Million Redevelopment**

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced an ambitious $635 million redevelopment plan for the Hunts Point Produce Market in the Bronx. A critical component of the city’s food supply chain, the market handles over 2.5 billion pounds of produce annually.

Funding for the project will include a projected $230 million federal loan, with an additional $405 million coming from city, state, and federal sources.

The redevelopment will be carried out by Aurora-Primus, a joint venture between Aurora Contractors, LLC and Primus Builders, Inc. The project will transform the aging facility into a modern, intermodal food distribution hub. Upgrades will include expanded refrigerated warehouse space to support increased capacity and the replacement of diesel-fueled Transport Refrigeration Units with cleaner technologies. These changes are designed to improve air quality for the approximately 13,000 residents living near the facility.

Redevelopment efforts are expected to begin later this year, following environmental reviews and design planning led by the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
