**$540M “Sachs on the Seawall” Project in Galveston Faces Key Planning Review**
A $540 million mixed-use development, known as Sachs on the Seawall, is currently under review by the Galveston Planning and Zoning Commission, with a decision expected at an upcoming hearing.
Located along Galveston’s historic seawall, the proposed project features a 216-room Marriott Renaissance Hotel, 150 luxury condominiums, and 236 apartment units. The development also includes 70,000 square feet of retail and dining space, and four acres of public green space designed for community use.
If approved, Sachs on the Seawall is anticipated to generate over 2,300 new jobs, providing a significant boost to the local economy.
The developer behind the project is Mohamed Eldawy with Royal Crown Investments. The architectural design is being led by Steven Biegel of PLACE Designers, whose past work includes prominent Gulf Coast properties such as Diamond Beach, Tiara on the Beach, and Ocean Front Resort.
Pending approval, construction could begin as early as December 2026, with the first phase of the project targeted for completion by 2029.
