**$540 Million Galveston Development Project Heads to Zoning Commission for Review**
A major new waterfront development in Galveston, titled “Sachs on the Seawall,” is under review and will go before the Galveston Planning and Zoning Commission for a final decision in an upcoming hearing.
The ambitious $540 million project proposes a mixed-use complex that includes a 216-room Marriott Renaissance Hotel, 150 luxury condominiums, and 236 apartment units. In addition to residential and hospitality components, the development will feature 70,000 square feet of retail and dining space and four acres of public green space designed for community use.
If approved, Sachs on the Seawall is expected to create over 2,300 jobs, making it a significant economic catalyst for the region.
The project is being spearheaded by Mohamed Eldawy of Royal Crown Investments. Architectural design is led by Steven Biegel of PLACE Designers, known for their work on coastal projects such as Diamond Beach, Tiara on the Beach, and Ocean Front Resort.
Should the development gain final approval, construction could commence as early as December 2026, with the first phase projected to be completed by 2029.
