Therme Group has been selected to develop a transformative destination at Poplar Point, spanning 110 acres along the Anacostia waterfront in Washington, D.C.

Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development announced that Therme Group’s proposal was chosen for the project. The development will utilize 15 acres of Poplar Point to create a state-of-the-art health and wellness destination, offering a unique experience while stimulating economic growth in the area.

The facility will feature an array of amenities, including thermal baths, saunas, wet rooms, thermal and mineral pools, waterslides, relaxation beds, immersive art installations, restaurants, and green spaces. The project is expected to generate 720 permanent jobs upon completion, contribute $1.5 billion in tax revenue over 25 years, and create 5,000 local construction jobs during its development.

“We know that Therme DC is a great fit for Poplar Point. Not only will it create jobs and opportunity, but it will also serve as a catalyst for economic growth along the Anacostia waterfront in Ward 8,” said Mayor Bowser.
